Bible and Theology Department: Bachelor of Theology

Purpose of the program

This three-year residential program is designed to provide the student with the biblical and theological education, as well as the practical skills necessary, to minister as a pastor or teacher. It also provides a foundational biblical and theological education that can serve as a basis for further specialization.

Goals of the program

In addition to the general expectations of the seminary, students who graduate with a Bachelor of Theology should possess the following abilities.

Each graduate is expected to understand and apply the historical experiences of the church to ministry.

Each graduate is expected to minister through writing and teaching.

Each graduate is expected to understand and apply the basic principles of a missionary ministry.

Each graduate is expected to understand and apply the basic principles from all the areas of pastoral ministry to their personal ministry.

Admission requirements

In addition to the general admission requirements, students must meet the following criteria.

Each candidate shall have served as active members of a church for at least two years, exhibit objective evidence of academic abilities and agree to the Odessa Theological seminary’s statement of faith.

The student must complete at least 5 biblical/theological courses on the undergraduate level. An exception can be made for those who have a secular graduate degree.

The student must have a high school diploma.

The student must not be divorced at the time of admission.
