CNY STEM scholarship program opens 2022 application process – Eagle News Online


CENTRAL NEW YORK – Partners for Education & Business, Inc. (PEB) announced a banner year for scholarships sponsored by local employers. High school students in the region can now apply for four-year college scholarships in architecture, computer science, nursing, or engineering (especially automation, chemistry, electricity, mechanics, or process engineering).

The CNY STEM scholarship program, endorsed by the CNY Tech Sector and the CNY STEM Hub, was launched in 2013 and is open to high school students wishing to specialize in the fields listed above. Residents of Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, and Tompkins counties are eligible. This year, several scholarships are offered by seven local companies: Cooper Lighting Solutions, INFICON, King + King Architects, Loretto, Novelis, SRC and TTM Technologies.

“The scholarships continue to evolve due to the commitment of local employers to find the best and brightest in this region, help them cover their education expenses and provide them with internships and full-time positions. right here in central New York, “said Marianne Ferris, program coordinator. .

Ferris added that over the years she has seen students receiving scholarships, taking paid internships, graduating and being offered positions at these local companies. PEB also maintains a database of all applicants and can contact those students with the most sought-after STEM majors and notify them of open positions or internships with employers.

Over the past nine years, PEB has awarded 65 scholarships with a total value of $ 706,000. This year, PEB is adding a record number of 13 additional scholarships with an additional value of $ 120,000.

Interested students can complete an online application at cnystem.com. The deadline for submitting applications is March 1, 2022. The process includes independent reviews of applications, academic records, letters of recommendation, list of honors / awards, extracurricular activities, as well as an essay and interview staff.
