Dunnellon, the Catholic notch of the Trinity wins
Dunnellon and Trinity Catholic with their first wins – both shutout – and OCA dropping to 5-0 highlighted Friday night’s action involving teams from Marion County.
Dunnellon 34, Crystal River 0: At DHS, the Tigers opened a tight game in the second half with scores in their last five possessions.
LJ Fitzpatrick, Trent Townsend, Brody Luckey, Maxwell Valcius and Kendy Harilus all touched touchdowns for DHS (1-2, 1-0 in District 5-5A), which will host rival Forest County next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Trinity Catholic 14, Carrollwood Day 0: At Trinity, the Celtics scored a touchdown in every half and shut out an opponent who competed in the competition averaging 33.7 points per game.
Trinity (1-2) will visit Clearwater Calvary Christian next Friday at 7 p.m.
OCA 70, Fondation Christian Academy 0: At the OCA, Logan Forella, Keiron Williams, Sherrick McGill, Daniel Young and Jordan Raines were among the many OCA players who have had a great night.
The Crusaders (5-0) will host Davenport Four Corners next Friday at 7 p.m. in a rematch of a game the Crusaders won 60-0 earlier in the season.
Vero Beach 40, North Marion 15: At the NMHS, the visitors took a big lead and improved to 2-1 with a win in a game that was agreed on Wednesday.
The Colts (2-1) have scored the last 15 points of the game and will now look to bounce back against their County rival Vanguard next Friday at 7 p.m.
Leesburg 60, Weir Lake 0: At LWHS, the visiting Yellow Jackets scored 38 points in the second quarter to move to 3-0 (1-0 in District 5-5A).
The loss dropped Lake Weir to 1-2 (0-1). The Hurricanes will look to bounce back next week when county rival Belleview visits.
