The Jack Zorn Scholarship will be available to a limited number of undergraduate Bible graduates attending the University of Montgomery, Alabama, starting in the fall semester of 2022 and will offer the recipients – who will be known as Zorn Scholars – full tuition fees up to five years.

Zorn Fellows are expected to live on campus, attend ministerial events, and take at least two Bible courses per semester.

Todd Brenneman, dean of the College of Biblical Studies and the Graduate School of Theology, said in a press release that the scholarship will make ministerial education more affordable and accessible.

“Our hope is that this endeavor will encourage more students to consider pursuing a Bible education and help parents see the value of Christian education,” he said. “Honoring Dr. Zorn in this manner highlights how we share the same vision as he does of uplifting the next generation of godly leaders.”

While the Zorn family were unaware of the Zorn scholarship prior to its announcement, Rhonda Fernandez, one of Zorn’s three daughters, expressed her joy at the news.

“Honoring dad and gentlemen to leaders in this way is beyond touching,” she said. The Christian Chronicle. “I can’t help but remember dad saying he introduced himself to Faulkner – it was Alabama Christian at the time – academically ill-prepared with $ 10 and big dreams. He had a passion for hard work and a gazelle’s concentration to educate himself so that he could preach the gospel. The impact this will have on the spread of the Gospel will be inspiring to see.

The family has a deep bond with Faulkner. Not only was Zorn present, but also his wife – the late Frances Zorn, who died in 2017 at the age of 80 – and the three daughters, at one point or another. Zorn was also a member of Faulkner’s board and was named 2021 Alumnus of the Year.

“I can’t wait to meet Zorn’s early scholars,” Fernandez added. “All Christian universities need more Bible specialization – that’s for sure – so it’s just a very, very special, very exciting thing.”
