First Christian Church Paves the Way for New Addition | Religion

Troy, Missouri – First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at 1302 Boone Street in Troy, on November 21 celebrated a historic groundbreaking ceremony for its new $ 1 million expansion. It has been almost 30 years since the church’s last inauguration, when they inaugurated the current community hall, offices and main entrance. The grand opening was for nearly 4,000 square feet of space that will include classrooms, a conference room and more restrooms, which the growing church desperately needs.

The building committee, chaired by George Tucker and Dr Scott Falls, studied, interviewed the congregation and planned for this addition for nearly three years, eventually settling on a project presented by architectural firm Michael Baalman and Associates. , from O’Fallon. Martin General Contracting of Eolia has been chosen as contractor.

Owner Mike Martin is also a member of the First Christian Church.

First Christian Church, is one of the oldest churches in Troy, started in 1856 – and once occupied the Unitarian Universalist Church, now part of Hechler Hardware, then later moved to Second Street, where they worshiped until the early 1960s when they moved to their current location.

The church’s growing ministry includes two weekly worship services, an active children and youth program, and sponsors First Step Preschool – a premium preschool starting at age two. It also offers a before and after daycare program.

Reverend Dr Jeffrey Moore is in his seventh year as Senior Minister, while Associate Minister for Family and Youth Reverend Seth Rash is in his third year.

The members of the building committee, called the dreamers, included: Bob Whitworth, Mike Cannon, Jan Burlison, Rob Bruce, Rev. Darrell and Joy Faires, Shaun Marshall, Kurt Saale, Mike Martin, Justin St. Pierre, Board Chair Rollin Heaton, Kindergarten Principal Jaimie Simms, Co-Chairs George Tucker and Scott Fall and Moore and Rash.

The building is expected to be completed by the end of summer 2022.
