John Polsgrove – NWTN today
John Brooks Polsgrove, 88, of Bardwell, Ky., Passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2021, with his wife, Claudia Moore Polsgrove, and three children, sons John AW (Cristina) and William; and his daughter, Dr Teresa Wade (Dr Jerry) with him. John had two grandsons and five sons-in-law. There will be no services.
John grew up on the family farm of his grandparents, Almus and Linda Polsgrove, north of Union City, where his grandfather was a railroad telegraph.
John graduated from Union City High School, where he earned a football scholarship to Georgia Tech. He later married Joyce Parker and joined the Air Force. He, his wife and three children were stationed in Japan and on Kwajalein Island.
After the Air Force, John graduated in electrical engineering and worked in this field. He last worked at West Vaco in Wickliffe, Ky., As an electrical engineer and safety engineer. No one was killed or seriously injured under his watch.
In the middle of his life, John was called to the ordained Christian ministry. He married Claudia Drane Moore, who had also responded to a call to ordained ministry. Together they have served the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregations in western Kentucky and Union City, as well as the United Church of Paducah. They helped build a church in Mexico. Upon retirement, John continued to be interested in ham radio, telegraphy, and model train construction.
