Many mansions recently honored 24 people, including high school students and parents, with Vicky Scholarships for seeking to improve their lives through education.

This year, the highest amount of scholarships awarded in a year was $ 33,500. The first year recipients received $ 1,000; second year recipients received $ 1,500; third year recipients received $ 2,000; and fourth year recipients, $ 2,500.

Over the past nine years, Many Mansions has awarded 176 scholarships to 104 people, for a total of $ 176,350.

The non-profit organization provides affordable housing to low-income residents of Ventura and Los Angeles counties, with a focus on very low-income people who are previously homeless, elderly, veterans or disabled.

Long-time school and classroom volunteer Victoria Garcia has offered love and support to her many students, improving their lives, according to a statement from Many Mansions.

The Vicky Scholarship was created by her son Marty Garcia, a board member of Many Mansions, in honor of his mother and her inspiring work with young people.
