Renae Koehler appointed Senior Minister of St. John’s Lutheran Church |
Beatrice’s Saint John ELCA Lutheran Church called Reverend Dr. Renae Koehler to be their senior pastor.
Reverend Dr. Koehler is from Nebraska. She grew up on a farm south of Vesta, Nebraska, where her parents, Bill and Velda Koehler, farm cows and calves. “It is a blessing to have a family near us,” said Rev. Dr Koehler, who also has two brothers, Rodney Koehler and his wife Cheryl from rural Firth, and Royce Koehler and his wife, Mindy. also from rural Firth. “Our children all went to Norris School together. Family is a blessing we appreciate!
Pastor Renae and her husband, Steve, live on a farm near Norris School (Rural Firth, NE.) They have two grown sons, Izac and Cash, both of whom attend the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. They enjoy their small farm and get together on their pond to have fun. They enjoy learning about agriculture and meeting the inhabitants of the many countries they have visited.
Rev. Dr. Koehler has 28 years of experience as an ordained minister. She served churches in Birmingham, Alabama; Glenwood, Iowa; Weeping Water and Avocado, Nebraska; and Lincoln, Nebraska. She also taught at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in the Department of Classical and Religious Studies.
Reverend Dr. Koehler received her Doctor of Divinity degree from Chicago Theological Seminary. Her Masters (Masters of Divinity) is from Emory University, Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Koehler was a high school home economics teacher for three years before going to seminary to become a pastor. She graduated from Tecumseh High School in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
