Reverend Ronald A. Bongard obituary

Bongard, Reverend Ronald A 90, of Eagan died April 4, 2022. He was born May 16, 1931 in Excelsior Township of George and Hulda (Froh) Bongard. He grew up in Excelsior and graduated from Excelsior High School in 1949. After briefly working at Honeywell, he proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 as a B-29 and B-47 mechanic. Feeling a call to ministry, he attended Concordia Seminary, Springfield, Illinois from 1956 to 1962. He was ordained pastor of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod in 1962. He served four congregations during his 34 years of pastoral career, including in Underwood, North Dakota and Watertown, Mankato (Good Shepherd) and Blue Earth (Immanuel) in Minnesota. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Eagan, Minnesota. In retirement, he enjoyed his time at the Edina Model Yacht club and continued his ministry by regularly visiting the Nordstrom E-Bar at the Mall of America, where he made many new friends over the years. He married Sally Ann Foster, who predeceased him in 1965, and they had three children. In 1966, he married Marie Louise Hilpert. Ron and Marie raised the children and enjoyed life together until his death in 2013. Ron is survived by his three children: Patti (Larry) Hare, Stephen (Rebecca) and Sandra Bongard, as well as six grandchildren : Whitney (Aaron) Kaufman, Sydney Hare, Stephanie (Noah) Guffey, Nathan Bongard, Trevor (Tina) Folke and Emma (Austin) Jasmer. He was predeceased by four sisters and their husbands: Berniece (Dan) Elieff, Rhoda (Jerry) Haas, Verna (Bob) Hadden and Wilma (John) Lofgren. He also leaves to mourn several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7 at Christ Lutheran Church, 1930 Diffley Road in Eagan at 10:30 a.m., preceded by visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Lunch follows the service. Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be donated to Christ Lutheran Church in Eagan. White Funeral Home 952-432-2001 Condolences:
