Scholarship named in honor of Reverend Dr. Azalee Chaplin Bishop |

The family of Reverend Dr. Azalee C. Bishop proudly announces a scholarship in her honor which will be posted this Thursday, January 13, 2022 live on Facebook. Reverend Dr. Azalee C. Bishop has been a dynamic and refreshing ambassador for Christ for 82 blessed years. On March 23, 2021, she was called from work to reward. This Christian leader was a 33-year-old retired pastor, community and civic leader, and program administrator with the Department of Social Services in Richland and Fairfield counties. Reverend Dr. Bishop was the co-founder of Grace Christian Church located at 5010 Monticello Road, Columbia, SC, along with the founder of Grace Bible College.

The fund will award three $1,000.00 scholarships on March 23, 2022 on Facebook to honor his memory. Announcements, applications and other information are available on the Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/azaleecbishopscholar

Award Ceremony: Spring 2022

Amount of scholarship: 3 scholarships of $1,000 each.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

High School Recipient Requirements ($1,000)

• Copy of your SC high school diploma

• Copy of your HBCU Freshman acceptance request

• Unofficial high school year transcript as verification of 2.5 min. GPA or higher

• Applications can be requested by emailing [email protected]

• A brief multimedia slide presentation (PowerPoint, etc.) describing how you embody the spirit of the Rev. Dr. Azalee C. Bishop through scholarship, service and character. A professional head shot (cap and toga, etc.) must be included. Limited to 5 slides.

• A letter of recommendation from someone other than a parent. One from your pastor is needed to elaborate on the service in your place of worship.

Undergraduate and Graduate (College) Requirements ($1000)

• Verification of your registered institution’s social work major (HBCU)

• Unofficial transcript from your previous semester as verification of 2.5 min. GPA or higher
