Tyrand Ministries set to celebrate its 60th anniversary | News, Sports, Jobs

MILL CREEK – Tyrand Cooperative Ministries will celebrate 60 years of community service with a special event next weekend.

“Sixty years is a milestone” Belinda Toms, the executive director of Tyrand, told The Inter-Mountain this week.

The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, September 10 at 2 p.m. at Tyrand Cooperative Ministries, located at 792 Back Road in Mill Creek.

The event will include speeches, food and tours of the facility.

“We have sent out invitations to everyone, and we hope to have a good turnout from officials as well as people who have volunteered and helped us over the years,” Toms said.

“We will have food and tours of the building after the ceremony because a lot has changed in 60 years,” Toms said. “Since I’ve been here, we’ve added the dormitory, we’ve added the stage building, and built the new barn.”

In 2021, Toms was honored at a special celebration for her 35 years of service with Tyrand Cooperative Ministries

“I grew up around Tyrand when it was at the old Carnation factory in Huttonsville,” she says. “Our mother used to make us fold clothes on Saturdays. It was so important to me as a little girl, so growing up and becoming a director was humbling.
