Varda scholarship established in Bay | News, Sports, Jobs

ESCANABA – The Robert S. Varda Scholarship was established at Bay College to assist students in Dickinson County pursuing studies in business or pre-engineering.

A graduate of Kingsford High School, Varda continued his education at Michigan Tech University and earned degrees in commerce and electrical engineering. He has worked throughout his career at Grede Foundry, Oldenburg Group and BOSS Snowplow.

Varda passed away in October 2019. His wife, Linda, established a scholarship within the Bay College Foundation in his memory, which will be awarded annually. “This scholarship honors Rob’s strong commitment to the community and his passion for his fields of education,” Linda said. “Rob would be delighted to know that he is helping students with their academic progress. “
